JULY

Thursday, July 24th.

Pre-International Pinot Noir Celebration Thursday night dinner. Anne Amie welcomes chef Troy MacLarty of Lovely Hula Hands as our guest chef for a Pre-IPNC dinner Thursday, July 24th. Troy attended the Culinary Institute of America and served as Joe Montana’s private chef before moving to the famed Chez Panisse in Berkeley for four years. Thankfully for us he headed to Portland and is now at Lovely Hula Hands on North Mississippi. Also joining us are winemakers Leslie Mead from Talley Vineyards on California’s South Central Coast and Michael Richmond from Bouchaine Vineyards in Carneros, Napa Valley. Paired with Troy’s menu, which has yet to be revealed as he has a mean passion for seasonal ingredients, will be an assortment of wines from all three vineyards. Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Riesling and of course Pinot Noir. Join us for Hors d’oeuvres at 6:30 on our patio overlooking our vineyards & the Pacific Coast range with dinner to follow. $125 per person includes gratuity – reservations required in advance. $100 for Wine Industry and Vineyard Club Members. For more information or to RSVP contact Dori Matthews at 503-864-2991.

NEWS

SALMON SAFE

We are very proud to announce that our Anne Amie Estate Vineyards have received the Salmon Safe Certification. When our new Director of Viticulture, Jason Tosch, arrived last January he was given two missions: Grow the finest wine grapes possible and convert all our agricultural over to sustainable methods. In a testament to his dedication to environmentally responsible farming, Jason attained our Salmon Safe Certification in a mere nine months.

Jason’s commitment and energy to sustainable agriculture has been an inspiration to all of us and his “green” spirit is pervading all aspects of our winery inside and out.

Our next goal is to receive our L.I.V.E. certification (Low Input Viticulture and Enology), which is a two year process and we expect to attain that goal in 2008.

Not only has Jason attained our Salmon Safe Certification, but in a vintage where the vineyards of the Willamette Valley are suffering one of the worst outbreaks of powdery mildew ever, thanks to Jason’s vigilance our vineyards are almost totally free of this blight.

It is Jason’s passion to grow grapes that will produce exceptional wines using only methods in harmony with the environment. His addition to our staff well represents our new dedication to excellence at Anne Amie Vineyards.

The San Francisco Chronicle reviews Anne Amie’s 2004 Deux Vert Vineyard Pinot Noir

Friday, November 16, 2007

Oregon wine production has exploded from about 120 wineries in 1999 farming 7,500 acres of wine grapes across five appellations to more than 300 wineries in 2006 with 15,600 producing acres within 15 appellations, including several approved last year.

With more than 50 percent of acreage planted to Pinot Noir, this is clearly Oregon’s major grape, also evidenced by the 123 wines submitted for tasting. A cooler, more humid climate leads to a more restrained, elegant style of wine with the high acidity and generally low alcohol that’s preferred by many Pinot Noir lovers.

Most Oregon wineries are small with limited production, so some recommended wines may be available only through the winery.

Rating: THREE STARS 2004 Anne Amie Deux Vert Yamhill-Carlton District ($50) The meld of aromas and flavors – damp mushroom, candied cherry, ripe plum, sweet spice and woodsy mineral – proclaim “Oregon Pinot.” This wine’s balanced combination of leafy cool fruit and earth is lovely with a finish that goes on and on.

eRobertParker.com # 173 Oct 2007 Jay Miller 89 Drink – $35 (35)

The 2004 Pinot Noir “Winemaker’s Selection” is dark ruby-colored with a fragrant bouquet of damp earth, saddle leather, black cherry, and black raspberry. This leads to a supple-textured, forward wine made in an elegant style.
